11.1” and 13” OLED iPad Pro in 2024, the 14.1” version postponed – Consomac

After the iPad Pro M2, which was launched in October 2022, there will be no more new iPad Pro models in 2023: the next generation should appear in early 2024, according to Ross Young’s sources. The screen analyst had already given us this information two months ago, saying that the two future models would feature OLED technology panels with two emitting layers for better brightness and longer lifespan.

Today, the 11-inch iPad Pro comes with a classic LCD screen, while the 12.9-inch model includes more advanced mini-LED technology that allows it to display true black. OLED technology also makes it possible to achieve this absolute contrast, but with better precision (the lighting is done at the level of each pixel and not by zone) and with lower consumption, all on a thinner and lighter panel. So this development would be beneficial for both models.

Ross Young adds an interesting indiscretion on MacRumors today: The iPad Pro M3 would have slightly larger screens with diagonals of 11.1″ and 13″ instead of today’s 11″ and 12.9″. That slight diagonal increase of a tenth of an inch or a quarter of a centimeter might reveal less bezel around the screen: the case could keep the same dimensions.

Unless Apple takes the opportunity to change everything and move to a dynamic island? The front sensors of the iPad Pro define the thickness of the rim around the plate: using a stamp like the iPhone 14 Pro would allow to overcome this limitation. Of course, this is only a hypothesis and Ross Young does not shed any light on the question. There’s also the issue of integrating a horizontal webcam and making it coexist with the Apple Pencil 2 charging system: it’s probably a work in progress, but we don’t know what solution Apple will choose.

Other information shared by Ross Young, Apple would have abandoned or seriously postponed its project for a very large iPad Pro model: the analyst had previously mentioned a 14.1-inch model for 2023, but this would no longer be relevant.

While you wait for these future models, whose launch is still a long way off, the first promotional offers for the M2 models are starting to appear at dealerships: you can find the best prices in real time on our price comparison.
