At that time, two militants were shot dead in front of a party headquarters; those responsible for the murder were never identified.
In 2020, Golden Dawn leaders were convicted of participating in a criminal conspiracy and the party was dissolved.
The twenty-one Italian citizens were arrested in order to initiate administrative expulsion proceedings against them on national security grounds, reports Kathimerini. Given the risk of possible clashes, the Attica General Police Directorate today banned both the memorial rally and other demonstrations announced by members of Greek anti-fascist organizations.
