EXCUSE ME!
A Virginia woman has a dubious claim to being the newest Guinness World Record holder for loudest female burp.
Kimberly Winter, 33, produced the record-breaking 107.3 dB burp live on air at the recording studio of an iHeartRadio station in Maryland.
The previous record of 107 dB was set by Elisa Cagnoni from Italy in 2009. The male record is held by Australian Neville Sharp, who managed a burp of 112.7 dB in 2021.
Winter’s belch was louder than a blender, which is around 70 to 80 dB, an electric hand drill, between 90 and 95 dB, and even the belch of some full-throttle, wide-open throttle motorcycles, which range between 100 and 110 dB.
“I just like being loud and proud,” Winter told The Washington Post.

Winter, who grew up in Fauquier County, Virginia, told the Post that her family and friends have always been impressed by the volume of her burps — and that she enjoyed impressing them.
But the road to breaking the record began when she posted a video of herself belching on TikTok last year, which resonated with some viewers, who were struck by the volume.
Within a month, Winter, who goes by the nickname “Kimycola” on TikTok, was encouraged by her viewers to buy a decibel meter and was determined to break the record.
She recorded a 109 dB belch early on and contacted Guinness World Records to have her performance confirmed. But to dethrone Cagnoni, under certain circumstances, she had to complete the winning burp.
Not only would there have to be two witnesses present, but it would also have to be recorded in a quiet room by an audio engineer with a microphone placed a set distance from her – 2.5 metres.
Not having direct access to such facilities, she emailed her high school band teacher, who suggested she reach out to a former classmate, she told The Post.
That classmate was Eric Messick, who had recently started a music company and was willing to help. They contacted the local radio station to inquire about renting a room and she was booked to appear on the radio show “Elliot in the Morning”.

Winter trained for months and posted updates on TikTok, where she built a small following. “I don’t do it the longest, I do it the loudest,” she noted in a video.
When she arrived at the studio, she was equipped with a Coors Light and had previously eaten a variety of carefully selected foods.
When Winter was interviewed on the show, she occasionally belched before telling the hosts she was ready to give her a try. Her first three burps were too quiet at 97.5, 107, and 103 decibels.
The last, record-breaking burp was 107.3. She told The Post that while she’s happy to have broken the record, she feels she’s capable of beating it by an even more impressive margin.
“I’m really excited that I made it,” she said. “But I’m even more excited to break the record again.”
