The series calendar seems to have taken February as a transitional month, midway between the bets they plan to dazzle with at the start of the year and the artillery they use to attack the platforms as spring approaches. In the absence of a title that stands out from the rest in terms of expectations (The Last of Us made it in January and the return of The Mandalorian and Succession are reserved for March), this will be a good month for hidden gems Find. different proposals and let yourself be carried away by stories with an eccentric or surreal point, emotional dramas and black comedies.
More information
What remains of the selection we bring this month is the fourth season of You (Netflix), the addictive thriller full of script twists that offers a fresh start for its protagonist. Within the national product, the second season of Operación Marea Negra (Amazon Prime Video) will be released in February, in which Álex González gives way to Jorge López in the leading role. All the Times We Fall in Love (Netflix) is the Spanish Valentine’s bet starring Georgina Amorós and Franco Masini. And continuing the Spanish production, The Invisible Girl (Disney+) is based on the Blue Jeans trilogy to tell a thriller set in Andalusia. The adventures of Jean-Luc Picard continue with the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard (Amazon Prime Video) and Carnival Row (Prime Video) will also close their path with their second season. Fantasy also dominates The Witches of Mayfair (AMC+), based on the books by Anne Rice, and the irreverent South Park (Comedy Central) returns for its 26th season.
Of this month’s releases and comebacks (which you can check out on our calendar), we recommend trying these picks.
Girl5Eva
Paula Pell, Sara Bareilles, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Busy Philipps in Girls5Eva.
This American comedy, which arrives in Spain a few years late, is preceded by a multitude of praises in the United States and a journey that has led to two seasons on Peacock, the NBCUniversal platform, and the confirmation of a third Had delivery after being picked up by Netflix. The series focuses on a female music group who found success with a single song in the ’90s and are now back on stage. Tina Fey is its producer, and according to critics, the series drinks on the humor previously found in 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, accompanied by original songs in the series.
Where and when to see? February 1st on Netflix.
suspicious
Aidan Turner, star of Suspicious.
Renowned psychologist Joe O’Loughlin (Aidan Turner) has gone viral after saving a person. Police will ask for your help to solve the death of a woman with 21 allegedly self-inflicted stab wounds. But soon the detectives suspect Joe, who knew the victim from before. Meanwhile, the protagonist is confronted with a recently diagnosed early-stage Parkinson’s disease. Thriller from the producers of Line of Duty and Vigil: A Nuclear Conspiracy, which therefore promises a solvent outcome and plot twists, got off to a promising start and received good reviews when it aired in the UK.

With Edward as a link, the loved ones of the deceased will forge unexpected friendships and connections as they deal with tragedy and try to find meaning in life. A bet on the sentimental, very suitable for those who miss This Is Us.

thistle
Ana Rujas, in the second season of ‘Cardo’.
In a panorama as rich in offers as that of Spanish (and international) television fiction, this drama created by Ana Rujas and Claudia Costafreda arrived at the end of 2021 as a breath of fresh air, earning applause and praise for its originality and its strong personality. The second season picks up the story three years later when its third-grade protagonist, María, emerges transformed from prison, where she has found refuge in religion, and tries to make a name for herself in society and settle unfinished business . but life and other people won’t make it easy for you.
Where and when to see? It opens on Sunday 12th on Atresplayer Premium.
The curse
The protagonists of “The Curse”.
It was one of the most critically acclaimed comedies in the UK in the last year. The story takes place in London in the early 1980’s when a gang of dimwitted petty criminals become involved in one of the biggest gold heists in history, a crime they are unprepared for. The trailer exudes a certain atmosphere of Guy Ritchie’s crime thrillers with a decidedly humorous side. Many of the reviews that came out after its release in its home country were really enthusiastic. “A superb crime adventure with an incredibly brilliant cast,” headlined The Guardian.
Where and when to see? The six episodes will be available on Filmin on Tuesday 14th.
Poor devil
An image from the Poor Devil series.
Released a few months after the original date, this Spanish adult animated comedy created by Miguel Esteban, Joaquín Reyes and Ernesto Sevilla promises a lot of funny humor with its absurd and surreal touch. The plot follows the story of Stan, an ordinary boy who is actually the Antichrist, who at the age of 666 months sees that the time of the fulfillment of the prophecy is drawing near and he must plunge humanity into horror and chaos. But he defies his fate because he wants to sing and dance in a Broadway musical.
Where and when to see? On the 17th on HBO Max.
for a better tomorrow
Billy Crudup, star of For A Better Tomorrow.
Billy Crudup is the protagonist of this sci-fi dramedy set in a retro-futuristic world (with robots everywhere but seventies aesthetics). Crudup stars as Jack, the leader of a group of door-to-door salespeople selling timeshare homes on the moon. Her attitude and belief in a better future inspire her staff and rub off on distraught customers who are carried away by her words and optimism. In the face of his life, however, things are different that Jack doesn’t show others. A curious starting point in a series with a very attractive aesthetic that capitalizes on the acting qualities of its protagonist.
Where and when to see? Friday the 17th on Apple TV+.
stone house
Keeley Hawes and Matthew Macfadyen in Stonehouse.
Another outstanding British series, released this January, stars Matthew Macfadyen and Keeley Hawes, both very fashionable on TV and now married in fiction (and real life). He plays Labor politician John Stonehouse, known for faking his own death in Miami in 1974. He had become a minister to Harold Wilson and was one of the politicians with the most promising careers and a perfect family, but the doubts of being a communist spy and shady financial matters weighed on him. Years later, he reappeared in Australia, where he lived a parallel life. The crazy real case it is based on and its performers invite you to expect great things from this series.
Where and when to see? Its three episodes will be available on Filmin on February 21st.
Fleishman is in trouble
Claire Danes and Jesse Eisenberg in Fleishman’s in Trouble.
Jesse Eisenberg and Claire Danes star in the television adaptation of the book of the same name, in which Toby Fleishman finds his world turned upside down when his ex-wife goes missing, requiring him to care for his two children while he is there starting out with his newly recovered single life and a possible promotion at the hospital where he works. In order to find out what happened to his ex-wife, he must face what happened to his marriage. Based on criticism, both for and against, the series seems to have stunned the experts, but in general they agree to highlight the actors’ work and the portrait it paints of friendship.
Where and when to see? Wednesday the 22nd on Disney+.
The consultant
Christoph Waltz, star of “The Advisor”.
The mere presence of Christoph Waltz as the protagonist of this series is reason enough to have it on our radar. The official storyline presents it as a psychological thriller about a consultant hired by a video game and applications company to improve the productivity of its employees. But his unconventional methods paranoidize employees who are actually fighting not just for their jobs, but for their lives. A premise that can lead to nonsense as well as the next big television obsession. In any case, you have our attention.
Where and when to see? It premieres on Friday 24th on Amazon Prime Video.
We are lady parts
The protagonists of “We Are Lady Parts”.
This month’s final proposal is one of the most acclaimed British comedies in recent times and also arrives in Spain almost two years late. Created by Nida Manzoor, a Pakistani-born screenwriter who drew on her own experience, the series follows the four members of an all-female Muslim punk rock band from London, Lady Parts, through the eyes of a student recruited guitarist. In doing so, its creator wanted to break with stereotypes, and according to critics, she achieved this with her irreverent reflection on Muslim women.
