Christian Cueva Why did Aladino leave Santos and how did

Christian Cueva: Why did ‘Aladino’ leave Santos and how did his TAS sanction come about?

Christian Cueva, along with Mexico’s Pachuca, has to pay Santos more than $4 million for breach of contract. This was the story of his departure.

Christian Cueva hasn’t had good times in the past few days. The player was fined by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last Saturday, January 28, with a large sum of money to pay to the court santos from Brasil. This economic sanction must be adopted together with Pachuca de México, a group of which “Aladino” was a member and involved in the footballer’s case against Peixe. This situation has resulted in the midfielder being unable to find a team for this 2022 year. Alianza Lima is interested in him but his legal issue has put negotiations on hold.

It should be noted that Christian Cueva also struggled at his last club: Al-Fateh. The athlete distanced himself from the Arab occupation in early January, claiming the institution failed to make any payment. The Saudi team even hinted at taking legal action against the player.

Undoubtedly, ‘Aladdin”s off-duty activities in recent weeks have hurt him. Alianza Lima wants him in their ranks. However, they are hoping that the midfielder himself will resolve his Santos issue before then, an event we shall bring you below.

The arrival of Christian Cueva in Santos

Christian Cueva arrived in Santos from Brazil in February 2019. The footballer anchored from the old continent after passing through the ranks of Krasnodar from Russia. ‘Aladdin’ became one of the most expensive transfers in Peixe’s history, coming on loan with a mandatory purchase option.

Unfortunately, the player hasn’t performed well in Brazil, only making 16 appearances throughout the year. He had disagreements with Jorge Sampaoli who was the DT of the Brasileirao line-up at the time. Due to its low level, the club sought its eventual sale, although unsuccessful.

The abrupt departure of Santos

The midfielder struggled more with Santos as he was absent from a number of training sessions and training sessions which ultimately drained the patience of the leaders of the São Paulo squad.

The 31-year-old footballer was no longer considered and, to avoid a prolonged suspension, requested his passport letter to negotiate with Pachuca from Mexico, who was interested in signing him.

“Cueva has a lot of problems, everyone knows that. We are analyzing his future. Cueva will not play for Santos this year,” said Paulo Autori, Santos’ sporting director.

“In the meantime, he won’t be training with the group. The possibility is that the club will come up with something,” he added.

Cueva arrives in Pachuca thanks to FIFA but Santos starts his claim

Christian Cueva came to Pachuca de México in early 2020 with the intention of having continuity. He managed to leave Santos and received provisional clearance from FIFA to make his Tuzos debut.

However, this did not mean that ‘Aladino’ got rid of legal problems with Santos. The approval of football’s highest authority did not prevent Peixe from filing a lawsuit against the footballer and demanding payment from the Mexican team for the player’s transfer.

The midfielder rose to prominence in the MX League but the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down and he left mid-year. For the second semester, he signed with Yeni Malatyaspor and joined Al-Fateh in early 2021.

Christian Cueva didn't score a goal during his 2019 tenure at Santos.

Christian Cueva and Pachuca are fined by FIFA

In mid-December 2020, Christian Cueva and Pachuca received bad news: Both were fined by FIFA and asked to pay Santos millions.

The Peixe lawsuit alleging unilateral breach of contract by “Aladdin” was ruled positive, after which the defendants were fined $7.3 million. Likewise, the Brazilian team was informed that they would pay the midfielder an amount of $136,000.

TAS reviewed the Cueva case and was still sanctioned

Last Friday, January 27 of this year, the TAS announced its verdict in the Christian Cueva v. Santos case. The Sports Arbitration Court ruled that the footballer and Pachuca must pay $4.7 million to Santos from Brazil.

Likewise, it has been revealed that if “Aladdin” does not comply with the sentence, it could have serious consequences for his career. This was explained in detail by lawyer Marcelo Bee Sellares, a specialist in sports law.

“If Christian Cueva and Pachuca don’t pay within 45 days, they risk sporting sanctions and he could miss FIFA’s March date,” he said in an interview with RRP.

“A non-compliance file will be opened and sporting sanctions will be imposed. The player will be disqualified from official matches for four or six months,” he added.
