The big premiere of the new reality show Get Me Out of Here!, which takes us to the jungles of Costa Rica, will be presented this Sunday on TVA just before La Voix and La vrai nature.
Hosts Alexandre Barrette and Jean-Philippe Dion spearhead this colorful competition, full of challenges in the sweltering heat. Yes, it’s a competition where one of the 10 entrants is crowned the winner and their chosen foundation receives a sum of $100,000, but this ITV Studios format is primarily about solidarity, mutual aid and friendship between campers let us experience emotions.
Passing various muscle tests by pushing their limits, the brave ones in this first season are singer-songwriter Andréanne A. Malette, professional dancer and “Revolution” winner Rahmane Belkebiche, boxer and comedian Deano Clavet, chef and Chefs de bois reality show winner Jean Michel Leblond, critical care physician François Marquis, content creator Livia Martin, comedian and actor Jean-François Mercier, TVA Nouvelles weather presenter Colette Provencher, singer and presenter Nathalie Simard and three-time Olympic champion Marianne St-Gelais.
The first episodes seen by the QMI agency allow us to discover certain campers in a new light, like Nathalie Simard, very funny and close to her emotions. Their humanity, their heart and their humor come to the fore and pushed to their limits, the campers become friends for life.
As if it wasn’t enough to settle into a rudimentary camp in the middle of the jungle for weeks – sleeping under the stars, surrounded by snakes and other critters – and being spooked in all sorts of situations, campers are rationed, meaning they get one daily ration of oatmeal, rice and beans. It is thanks to the challenges that they can all get additional – or more plentiful – food and ingredients to spice up their fire-cooked dinner.
In the first episode, which airs this Sunday, campers have to jump into the water from a helicopter to get to their camp, which is particularly exhausting for Jean-François Mercier. Others are on board a kayak and have to deal with the first bugs. The first eight campers meet and sleep in the jungle for the first time.
From the third meeting, the jungle gala begins at the very end of the episode. At the end of the Endangerment Challenge and the Elimination Challenge, a camper must go home.
“Get me out of here!” can also be caught up on TVA+, where viewers are entitled to new content.
