The Philadelphia Flyers saw their lead dwindle but still found a way to defeat the Calgary Flames 4-3 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday.
Head coach John Tortorella’s side went into the third period with a two-goal lead, but the crowd’s favorite had yet to say his last word. Indeed, Tyler Toffoli and Andrew Mangiapane delighted the crowd by scoring in the first ten minutes of the last clash.
However, Wade Allison put an end to the Flames fan party. With less than eight minutes remaining in regular time, the 25-year-old forward found himself completely alone in Jacob Markstrom’s goal. James van Riemsdyk spotted him and all he had to do was push the disc past the red line.
Travis Konecny, Nicolas Deslauriers and Tony DeAngelo were the other scorers for the Flyers, while Mikael Backlund also scored for the Flames.
James Reimer closes the door
At the SAP Center, San Jose Sharks goaltender James Reimer stopped the Seattle Kraken’s shots and his team won 4-0.
The 34-year-old masked man made 26 saves and recorded his second shutout of the season. It was also the 27th time in his career that he had a National League shutout.
His performance allowed the California club to end a three-game losing streak.
Logan Couture, Evgeny Svechnikov, Noah Gregor and Michael Eyssimont (empty mesh) have signed up for the brand.
In front of the losers’ cage, Martin Jones stopped 20 of his rival’s 23 shots. The Kraken saw their brief winning streak come to an end after two games.
