North Korea has tested an underwater nuclear attack drone capable of unleashing a “radioactive tsunami,” state media said in a statement released on Thursday.

Tests of the underwater attack system were conducted between Tuesday (21st) and this Thursday. North Korea said it launched a test warhead that sailed between 80 and 150 meters depth for nearly 60 hours.

“The mission of the underwater strategic nuclear weapon is to covertly enter operational waters and unleash a superlarge radioactive tsunami by underwater explosion to destroy enemy naval assault groups and key operational ports,” the statement said.

In addition, North Korea said on Wednesday (22) it tested cruise missiles that accurately hit targets after flying between 1,500 km and 1,800 km.

Pyongyang also took the opportunity to criticize military exercises by South Korea and the United States, which North Koreans called “intractable” and “provocative”.

The latest tests are part of a series of military exercises North Korea has been conducting in recent weeks. In one of them, the country fired an ICBM and said it was a simulated nuclear counterattack on the US and South Korea.
