While he had previously refused to supply fighter jets to Ukraine, his position appears to have changed.

The F16 fighter jets were at the top of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s wish list. These state-of-the-art fighters, the most widely used in the world, are more efficient than certain Ukrainian Army aircraft. After months of hesitation, the United States finally gave the green light. “We will work with our allies to determine when the planes will be delivered, who will provide them and how much,” the US National Security Advisor said. An announcement that comes at a time when the Ukrainians claim to be preparing a major counter-offensive.

“Ukrainians are making 20-30 years of progress in armaments”

Ukrainians hope that the US-made F16s, which are very versatile, can make all the difference. “We’re talking about aircraft capable of bombing, fighter jets, destroying radars and blinding Russian anti-aircraft defenses. So it is indeed a multi-skilled device. It is a technological gap. The Ukrainians are 20-30 years ahead of the armament,” explains an Air and Cosmos journalist. The US would not supply these devices directly, but the Netherlands, Denmark or Poland would have to wait for the pilots’ training , so these tools are ready to use.
