Dominican Anti Drugs Agency halts two shipments in 24 hours

The DNCD said it arrested two smuggling-related citizens, who also confiscated a mobile phone, ten fuel jugs and two 75 and 40 hp outboard motors.

The agency said it had received reports of a multi-man boat from South America intending to enter Dominican territory with the cargo.

The agents organized an operation by air, sea and land and after an intensive pursuit several nautical miles southeast of the coast, they managed to block the ship, the same source said.

He pointed out that those arrested are in the hands of the State Department of San Pedro de Macorís, while the illegal goods are being investigated, as usual, at the National Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Less than 24 hours ago, this directorate reported the seizure of 728 kilograms of cocaine in a container containing cleaning products manufactured in that country, to be shipped to Belgium.

According to the company, the van was ready to leave the multimodal port of Caucedo in Andrés, Boca Chica, bound for the port of Antwerp.

Members of port security, officials from various secret services of the Bundeswehr and representatives of the State Ministry also took part in the multi-hour operation.
