Actor Tyler Labine hospitalized after ignoring symptom of ‘potentially fatal blood clot’

Actor Tyler Labine revealed what he initially dismissed as a stomach ache turned out to be a potentially fatal blood clot, which he treated at a local hospital for over three days. He is currently recovering with the help of his loved ones who are taking care of him.

The 45-year-old described what happened in a caption on Instagram that accompanied a video he posted on July 2 showing part of his trip to a local hospital and being treated there.

“Sometimes it’s a Tuesday and you walk around with a stomach ache so you try to sleep in,” the former New Amsterdam star captioned the post.

“Then sometimes on a (Wednesday) you wake up with such a bad stomach ache that you decide to go to the emergency room at the local hospital,” he continued. “And then sometimes your abdominal pain turns out to be a potentially fatal blood clot in your gut and liver and you have to spend the next three days in the hospital trying not to die. Only sometimes.”

After surviving all of this, Labine opened up about his current state of health.

“I’m fine,” he wrote.

“Slow recovery but I’m here, my family is supporting me and my dear friend Martha is taking care of me,” he said. “I’m counting on my blessings and maybe I’ll reconsider what’s really important to me in this life.”

Labine was hospitalized in November for surgery to fix a hernia or “when tissue, such as part of the intestine, is protruding through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The resulting bulge can be painful, especially when you cough, bend over, or “lift a heavy object,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

“Just a minor surgery on Friday (yesterday),” Labine said on Instagram at the time. “Fixed a hernia. Now at home. I feel good. Sooooo damn but good. I just wanted to share it. I love you all.”
