Acer is a very special brand in the market. It’s not that his products aren’t good, quite the contrary, but his command of communicating around his products is a bit amateurish. Also, in a way, the Aspire range was the one we’ve only seen with mums and dads going to Darty to buy their first computers. But with the green movement and the Vero range, Acer has finally found that little bit more interesting that sets it apart and that we’ve already seen in the 14-inch model from 2022. In this 15-inch Aspire Vero we find a technical sheet worthy of its time and yet the philosophy that seduced us.

Acer Aspire Vero 15 (2023) theme
Once again we are dealing with a design that is a bit more sober than the usual Acer devices. And with good reason: Here we use a chassis that consists of 30% plastic collected from the sea. We’re going to add keyboard keys that are 50% the same material and a touchpad that’s entirely designed that way. Recycling efforts extend to the ease of opening and repairing your own PC, as well as the ability to recycle the PC’s components yourself.

That’s why the Acer Aspire Vero 15 has this somewhat rectangular design. The aim is both to make production easier and to strengthen the chassis. Because yes, the device is a bit more flexible than high-end computers. But frankly, it’s also not as flexible as most devices in its class, which also use plastic, without necessarily considering its origin.

Otherwise, the Aspire Vero 15 is very satisfied all in all. Its weight of 1.8 kilograms corresponds to our expectations given this diagonal, making it neither the lightest nor the heaviest in its category. It’s its speckled design that sets it apart, in addition to its greener color than the 14-inch model.
keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard isn’t great, but it’s not bad. Its switches are a bit softer than the 14-inch model, but still stiff enough to be comfortable. As a bonus to the typical keyboard, where the letters E and R have their own little style, we’re entitled to a small number pad on the side. This one is very slim but easy to use.

The touchpad is quite wide and glides excellently. The fingerprint reader is integrated in the top left and, thanks to Windows Hello, serves as a biometric lock for the device.

On the left we surprisingly find a conventional 20V power connector. We also have two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one HDMI port and one USB A 3.2 Gen 1 port. On the right side we have a single USB A 3.2 Gen 1 port and a combo jack.

The presence of that 20V power connector makes us think that Acer is reusing an old motherboard design here. We don’t necessarily blame it, however, because the connectivity is complete despite everything. An SD card reader is always welcome on this diagonal, but its absence isn’t a problem on such a mainstream laptop PC.
webcam and audio
Acer advertises its Aspire Vero 15 with a “QHD” webcam, but in reality this doesn’t really detract from the quality. We remain in the shackles of most other computers, albeit with a little more work. Most notably, the speakers don’t stand out and lack both volume and definition. The bass is definitely missing.

Our test model is equipped with an IPS LCD panel that supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The screen is matt and anti-glare.
Under our probe and using the DisplayCal software, we find 100.6% coverage of the sRGB space for 71.3% of the DCI-P3 space. The maximum brightness is measured at 420 cd/m², which is quite good for an anti-glare screen: The computer remains legible even in direct sunlight. The contrast is excellent at 1610:1.
But of course we are dealing with a product that is not the highest quality. Since the DCI-P3 range is not supported, the average Delta E00 value measured in the sRGB range is far from perfect at 3.64. It’s not entirely bad, but it’s far from optimized for graphics work. It’s a shame, because the color temperature of 6652K comes very close to the desired NTSC standard at 6500K.
All in all, here we have a screen that does the job. It’s not the best panel in the world, but given the target audience, it will do the job perfectly. However, with such a diagonal of 15.6 inches, Acer could have gone to the trouble of integrating a QHD resolution or supporting the increasingly important DCI-P3 range.

It’s been a long time since Acer updated its software offering. Vero is entitled to its own application that focuses on computer longevity and optimizing performance in the simplest way possible. This is very comfortable to use and a good idea from Acer.
But unfortunately we also find the other inclinations of the manufacturer. However, Vero doesn’t replace the very poor Care Center that manages computer updates, and the manufacturer still has an annoying tendency to stuff a lot of adware into its experience. Thorough cleaning is required immediately after purchase.
Performance of the Acer Aspire Vero 15 (2023).
Our test version of the Acer Aspire Vero 15 is equipped with an Intel Core i7-1355U, a 10-core SoC – 2 performance and 8 efficiency – that can accelerate up to 5 GHz. It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. We also have 512GB of PCIe 3.0 storage.
Benchmarks and heating
Computer performance is not particularly impressive. With scores of 7543 points in multi-core and 1854 points in single-core under Cinebench R23, we can see that the 2023 Vero 15 offers a real improvement over the 2022 model, especially in single-threaded tasks. of 5596 points The PCMark 10 also underlines it: The development is minimal. Above all, we are still faced with the PCIe 3.0 storage, one of the disappointments already noted in the 2022 model. Granted, that’s enough for mere mortals, but at the end of the day it’s still frugality.
Of course, for a PC primarily dedicated to office automation, that’s more than enough to have an extremely smooth computer, but we would have liked the cooling to be a bit better to support Intel’s 13th generation. But the Vero 15 undoubtedly prefers silence, even if that means reaching a peak temperature of 53 C on the bottom of the device.

The 2023 Acer Aspire Vero 15 has a 56 Wh battery. Charging is via a 65W USB-C charger included with the device that supports the Power Delivery standard. This means that you can use all types of chargers on this device as long as they use this standard: the charging power adapts automatically.

With typical office use, we could easily use the Aspire Vero 15 for between 10 and 11 hours in standard mode. Which probably adds 2 hours more in Eco+ mode, for excellent autonomy.
