The struggle between the two personalities dates back to Belo’s exit from the Soweto Pagoda group in the 2000s.

About a year after Denílson bought the group’s rights, the singer left Soweto to pursue a solo career. In retrospect, the fivetime world champion claimed that Belo had breached a contract and demanded a fine be paid.

The legal battle lasted more than 20 years and Denílson publicly called on the musician several times to pay off the debt.

The last court decision on this charge was dated November 2022 and gave Denílson a positive reason.

So far, neither the former player nor the singer have publicly commented on the payment.
