Summerfest: Man Arrested Over Death Threats Against Lana Del Rey – Teller Report

A New Brunswick man has been arrested and will appear in Quebec on death threats against singer Lana Del Rey. The American artist will headline the Festival d’Été de Québec on the Plains of Abraham on Saturday night.

Denys Mallet, 40, was arrested by authorities and is scheduled to appear through the courthouse on Friday.

According to the arrest warrant issued for the man, he is accused of “knowingly threatening death or physical harm” to singer Lana Del Rey.

The alleged facts span more than a year, from January 1, 2022 to July 6.

According to the Journal, the man from Dieppe, New Brunswick said in particular that the singer’s life would change forever after her visit to Quebec, citing threats in the background.

The defendant is currently being held at Victoria Central and will appear later in the day to face the death threat charge.

The SPVQ confirms that it received a report in this file at the end of June.

“This is a report of threats against an artist who is scheduled to perform at the summer festival,” police spokesman David Poitras said.

An investigation has been launched and led to the arrest of Denys Mallet in New Brunswick on Thursday. A deportation order was then issued to have the accused transported to Quebec.
