Doja Cat has landed her first No. 1 single in Australia with “Paint The Town Red”.
The controversial star took the song to the top spot this week, dethroning Billie Eilish’s Barbie ballad What Was I Made For?.
The 27-year-old had already almost reached the top of the charts in 2020 with “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA and reached number 2.
Doja has caused controversy in recent weeks after posting several swear words on social media.
The rapper at times mocked her own fans, even criticizing her previous albums as “money heists.”

“Planet Her and Hot Pink were money grabs and you all fell for it,” she tweeted in May.
“Now I can disappear somewhere and touch grass on an island with my loved ones while you all cry over mediocre pop.”
Doja has repeatedly expressed her desire to break away from her top 40 pop sound and do something less commercial.
She recently attempted to make the leap into hip-hop with the Kendrick Lamar-inspired “Attention,” but the song failed to light up the charts.

This comes after Doja lost around 250,000 followers on Instagram after criticizing her own fans for calling themselves “Kittenz” – a name her fandom coined for herself.
The singer, whose birth name is Amala Dlamini, 27, explained on Instagram that she feels “free” after losing the “creepy” followers.
“Seeing all these people unfollow me, it’s like I’ve defeated a great beast that has held me for so long,” she wrote.
“It feels like I can reconnect with the people that I really care about and love me for who I am and not for who I was.” “I feel free,” she added.

The 27-year-old launched a tirade on social media with a series of now-deleted tweets aimed at her fans, who refer to themselves as “Kittenz”.
“My fans aren’t allowed to call themselves shit.” “If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or a fucking ‘kitten’ it means you need to hang up your phone and find a job and help your parents around the house,” wrote the rapper.
She even responded to several of her fans’ replies to the now-deleted tweet, scolding one user in particular for using her “government name” as a social media username.
“You make my government your name.” [screenname] “is freaking creepy,” she tweeted, but was later deleted.
