While his father was a passenger: A 10-year-old driver is arrested

An Arizona father was arrested after he was found in the passenger seat of a vehicle his 10-year-old son was driving, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

Last Saturday, shortly before 3:20 p.m., a police officer saw the child’s vehicle “changing lanes in a dangerous manner and in violation of traffic regulations,” according to a police spokesman. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed near Scottsdale Street. The chase to stop him lasted three minutes before the child decided to stop the vehicle.

The child’s father, Alvaro Ovando Alvarez, a 49-year-old man, was a passenger in the vehicle. He had an open alcoholic drink with him.

Charges against Alvaro Ovando Alvarez include child abuse, drunken driving, possession of an open container of alcohol and unlicensed driving by a minor.

He remained jailed for the remainder of the trial. There is no extra charge for the child.
