It was not a flood of water but a flood of red wine that hit a small Portuguese village on Sunday when an accident occurred in the barrels of a distillery, releasing more than 2 million liters of wine.
From the images shared on social media, you might think it’s a waterway, except the red color of the liquid indicates the problem.
Definitely a different kind of flood

The stunning oil spill occurred in the streets of Sao Lourenço do Bairro, a small town between Porto and Lisbon where the Levira distillery is located, the Diaro de Coimbra website reported.
Suddenly, two tanks at the distillery burst, causing a leak that worried local authorities, who particularly feared contamination of a nearby river.
“We accept full responsibility for the costs associated with repairing and eliminating the damage. “We are doing our best to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” the distillery responded.
No injuries were reported in the incident, but the basements of surrounding houses were flooded.
