TASS Russia is ready to negotiate over Ukraine but will not consider proposals for a ceasefire as Moscow has already been deceived once, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“We are working on the real situation that has developed. There were negotiations in March and April 2022, everything has already started. But two days later there was Bucha (the events in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, because, I think, someone “If we in London or Washington don’t want this war to end,” the senior diplomat said at a press conference after the 78th session the UN General Assembly. “When we hear about negotiations now, [o presidente russo Vladimir] “Putin commented on this and said very clearly: yes, we are ready to negotiate, but we will not consider proposals for a ceasefire, because we have already thought about it once, but you have deceived us,” Lavrov stressed.

The top Russian diplomat emphasized that the West had forbidden Kiev from negotiating with Moscow. “Not only were we ready, we agreed to negotiate, we reached an agreement in April 2022. And after that, as I understand it, [o presidente ucraniano Vladimir] “Zelensky was told: Since they agreed so quickly, we will exhaust them,” the foreign minister said.

Lavrov had previously stated that the longer Kiev delayed negotiations with Moscow, the more difficult it would be to negotiate later. According to him, the first step towards these contacts should be the cancellation of Zelensky’s decree banning dialogue with Moscow.
