The Russian Defense Minister denies plans for a new mobilization

Moscow, Oct. 3 (Prensa Latina) Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said today that the General Staff of the Armed Forces has no plans for a new military mobilization.

The Russian Armed Forces have sufficient personnel to carry out the special military operation (in Ukraine). The patriotic attitude of Russian citizens who actively join the ranks of the army contributes to this to a large extent, Shoigu said at a meeting with high-ranking commanders, as highlighted by the Sputnik news agency.

The chief highlighted that more than 335,000 contractors and volunteers have joined the ranks of the armed forces so far this year.

Shoigu assured that recruits who will serve at the end of the 2023 recruitment campaign, including newcomers to the new Russian regions, will not be sent to combat zones.

He also reported that more than 98 percent of soldiers injured during military operations receive medical discharge.

Health care is organized at a high level. Typically, first aid is administered on the battlefield in the first few minutes after injury, he said.

Regarding mortality in Russian military hospitals, the minister stated that it is at 0.43 percent and will continue to decrease, adding that military doctors demonstrated high professionalism and courage by carrying out unique operations “to save the lives of soldiers rescue”.

Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special military operation that, according to President Vladimir Putin, was aimed at responding to a request from the self-proclaimed republics of Luhansk and Donetsk to protect the population of the Donbass regions, in southeastern Ukraine.

During the military operation, Russian forces took control of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, which became part of the territory of the Russian Federation along with Donetsk and Luhansk.
