Jill Dando, British TV’s ‘Lady Di’, whose murder remains a disturbing mystery

It was April 1999 when Jill Dando, a BBC journalist, was murdered in broad daylight at the age of 37. A single bullet hit his head as he answered a call at the door of his home.

More than two decades after her murder, the British presenter’s story joins Netflix’s long list of true crime content, paving the way to endless questions with the docuseries “Who Killed Jill Dando?”

The case is extremely worrying because in all this time it has not been clear who is really responsible for the journalist’s murder.

Authorities initially brought a possible suspect named Barry Michael George to trial, who was sentenced to life in prison but was later acquitted in 2009. The lack of evidence, some inconsistencies in the case, less than credible statements and media attention. overshadowed Dando’s death.

Some of the theories surrounding his assassination relate to the alleged order of a Serbian leader named Arkan, who ordered his execution because of comments he made on television and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) military actions in the region and even against refugees in the region had supported Kosovo. Nothing could be checked.

Jill’s brother Nigel believes it is “highly unlikely that the police will be able to catch anyone”; However, he urged that the documentary “bring back people’s memories,” he said in an interview with the BBC.
