Bad news for Alexis Lafrenière

Alexis Lafrenière is going through difficult times these days, and clearly things aren’t getting any better as the New York Rangers announced some bad news about the young forward on Saturday.

The Blue Shirts announced that the Quebecer has an upper body injury and is being examined daily.

Since the start of the preseason calendar, the first overall pick in the 2020 draft has been the focus of discussion among the Rangers. His play on the ice is heavily criticized.

Famous columnist Larry Brooks did not hesitate to make harsh remarks about the former Rimouski Océanic member in a text published Thursday in the New York Post.

“[Le problème]“It’s not that Lafreniere doesn’t look like a first-round draft pick primed for a big season,” he wrote. Rather, most of the time he looked like a player who had been invited to a camp or a tryout. Before he was demoted to Hartford last weekend, Matt Rempe, a sixth-round pick in 2020, made a more positive impression.

Lafrenière collected just one assist in four friendlies. Last year he had the best season of his career, collecting 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points in 81 games.
