Ed Sheeran will make a surprise appearance in new comedy Sumotherhood.
The 32-year-old singer appeared in the trailer for rapper and director Adam Deacon’s new film. The synopsis described the film as a “parody of the British urban genre”.
Ed will play a homeless drug addict in the film and he can be heard saying in the clip: “Oi oi what do you say?”
It’s unclear to what extent Ed will play a role in the new film, but it will be a rare instance of him playing a character rather than himself on screen.

Earlier this year, a source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Ed plays this guy who has no home and looks like a crack addict.” The film was shot some time ago, but work on the film is ongoing is almost finished and we hope to have it out this year.
“The cast makes it exciting and, most importantly, everyone wants to see Ed. “He doesn’t play a major role in the film and although fans will recognize him immediately, they’ve never seen him like this before.”
Jeremy Corbyn has also been confirmed as a member of the cast of Sumotherhood, which filmed in London last year.
During his brief appearance in the trailer, the 74-year-old politician simply says: “Allow it, garbage man.”
It’s not clear whether he’s playing himself or a fictional character, but his wardrobe looks unchanged from his time as Labor leader.
Jennifer Saunders and Denise Van Outen will also appear in the film.
Sumotherhood, written by Adam Deacon, Michael Vu and Jazzie Zonzolo, is also directed by and stars Adam Deacon. The film acts as an action-packed parody of his previous ventures Kidulthood and Adulthood.

Adam Deacon – who also stars in and directs the film – previously promised the film would celebrate “the diversity of life” in modern east London.
He said: “We are thrilled to have this incredible cast join the project and bring these crazy and wacky characters to life.”

Sumotherhood is in UK cinemas from October 13th.
