According to a 2018 study by dating app OkCupid, sapiosexuality is one of the most common dating preferences in the United States, with 12% of users identifying as sapiosexual.
In an article published in the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy, researchers found that people Sapiosexuals tend to have higher levels of emotional intelligence. and that their attraction to intelligence may be related to their need for high levels of emotional understanding.
