The government warns of leftist chaos and the influx of refugees. The opposition mobilizes non-voters. Sunday’s race will be close.
Shortly before the decision at the polls on Sunday, the latest election announcement from Poland’s ruling party once again plays heavily on fear: the war in Ukraine, the “invasion of refugees” on the border with Belarus, the energy crisis, the inflation and Covid. “Do Donald Tusk and his chaotic government have an answer for this?” asks Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The cruel policies of predecessors, which drove citizens into poverty and despair between 2007 and 2015, are then shown in dark colors. After that, the colors shine again: “PiS means concrete actions, electoral promises fulfilled, real solutions to problems”, says Morawiecki and promises new and better pension and housing programs.
