Flyer: More health problems for Sean Couturier

Is Sean Couturier unlucky? The striker, injured again, missed Monday’s morning training and many are already fearing the worst.

Head coach John Tortorella hasn’t been very vocal about his center’s health issues and wouldn’t elaborate on the nature of Couturier’s issues. He contented himself with announcing that he was “in bad shape.”

The French-speaking player’s new physical problem is at least not related to the back problems that have kept him off the ice for more than 600 days, but some are talking about a possible long-term absence. Couturier was forced to draw a line under the 2022-2023 season and much of the previous season.

The 30-year-old veteran was used extensively in the Flyers’ first two games of the season. Against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Ottawa Senators, he spent more than 20 minutes on the ice and had one assist.

Couturier could therefore miss Philadelphia’s home opener on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks.
