New bombers from Israel hit the southern Gaza Strip in the early hours of Tuesday 17th. Israeli airstrikes in Khan Younis and Rafah killed at least 80 people, according to Portal. The IsraeliPalestinian conflict has been ongoing since October 7th.

At around 6 a.m., Gaza’s Interior Ministry reported that at least 49 people had been killed in the bombings. At 9:30 a.m. the number was updated to 80 victims of the overnight attacks. The World Health Organization (WHO) had previously said that there had been 2,800 deaths and 11,000 injuries in Gaza since the conflict began.

According to Khaleej Times, Israel ordered civilians in Khan Younis and Rafah to seek refuge because of the attacks planned for this Tuesday. The Rafah region is home to thousands of people seeking to flee Gaza as it is the only border crossing with Egypt.

Now the United States is trying to conduct a diplomatic mission so that humanitarian aid reaches the people of Gaza. Joe Biden is expected to travel to Tel Aviv, Israel, this Wednesday, the 18th, where he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In addition, the US President will also travel to Amman, Jordan, where he will meet the country’s King Abdullah II, as well as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah alSisi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The idea is that there will be humanitarian assistance for civilians leaving Gaza.
