The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this Monday (23) that the United Nations Security Council will meet again this Tuesday (24) in New York (USA) to discuss the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The meeting, dubbed a “highlevel debate,” will be chaired by Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira. Brazil will temporarily hold the presidency of the Council in October.
In a statement, the Brazilian government said the meeting will be an opportunity for “countries to call for a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors at the highest levels.”

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has already caused thousands of deaths and destruction on both sides of the border. Since October 7, when the terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel, the country has responded with attacks.
Last week, Brazil, as president of the body, tried to pass a resolution in the UN Security Council that would, among other things, open a humanitarian corridor on the GazaEgypt border.
