Four South Korean tourists die in floods in Vietnam

Four South Korean tourists died in central Vietnam on Tuesday when their car was swept away by a swelling river after heavy rains hit the country, state media said.

The tourists’ vehicle was swept away by floods in Dalat, a tourist town in the mountainous province of Lam Dong, as they tried to cross the river, news site VN Espress reported, citing local authorities.

The tourists’ bodies were recovered several kilometers downstream, according to the same source.

The Vietnamese driver of the SUV is the only one who survived.

Central Vietnam has been hit by heavy rains since mid-October.

According to official information, natural disasters such as floods and landslides have claimed around a hundred lives in Vietnam since the beginning of the year.
