In the name of actor Matthew Perry, who died on October 28th, a new foundation was founded this Friday with the aim of using donations to help people who are “struggling with the disease of addiction”. “In the spirit of Matthew Perry’s longstanding commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction, we set out to honor his legacy by establishing the Matthew Perry Foundation, guided by his own words and Experiences and driven by their passion for “making a difference in as many lives as possible,” says a statement from the foundation itself. The organization is sponsored and maintained by the public charity National Philanthropic Trust, as CNN reported. Perry, who played the character Chandler Bing on the series “Friends,” spoke about his struggles to recover from drug and alcohol abuse throughout his life in his 2022 autobiography “Friends, Lovers, and the Terrible Big Thing.” In an interview last year, the actor said that he hoped to be remembered most for his efforts and work to help others suffering from addiction.
