The victim is a 24-year-old man who police discovered covered in blood on 1st Street near 24th Avenue after a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. Sunday evening.
“The 24-year-old man was quickly transported to hospital with significant injuries to his upper body. According to the latest information from the hospital center, he would now be out of danger,” said officer Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
The motive for this attempted murder is currently unknown and the police investigation is likely to be complex as there are three crime scenes to analyze.
A vehicle used in this murder attempt was found an intersection further along Boulevard Gouin Est. The damaged vehicle was parked there, but it was not there that the shots were fired, which led police to a third location, this time much further east.
“The event would have taken place at the intersection of Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and Avenue J. J-Joubert in Rivière-des-Prairies. Bullet casings were also found at this location,” the SPVM spokesperson said.
The three crime scenes were protected to make the investigators’ work easier. The canine unit was deployed and forensic identification technicians were called to the scene.
“The circumstances of this event are currently unclear […] There have been no arrests at this time,” Officer Drouin said.
The SPVM investigation continues.
