The Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) further strengthens its technical structure with the addition of José Medardo Prieto and Antonio Jiménez, who assume their role as commissioned experts.
These appointments, along with those of Omar Prias and Manuel Peña, reflect the Company’s continued commitment to regulate public residential services in the areas of electricity, fuel gas and public liquid fuel services in a transparent, agile and efficient manner.
José Medardo Prieto holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Universidad de los Andes and a master’s degree in hydraulic resources from the National University of Colombia.
He brings 39 years of experience in the energy sector, including as Head of Studies at Intercambio Eléctrica SA and as Principal Consultant at Sinergia Consultores en Servicios Públicos.
Antonio Jiménez Rivera holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Industrial University of Santander, with a specialization in Financial Management from the Universidad de los Andes and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes.
He has contributed to higher education as a postgraduate professor of engineering at the Industrial University of Santander.
His professional experience includes positions at Distasa, Adeco, in the Mining-Energy Planning Unit and technical management and supervision of the energy and gas markets of the Superintendency of Home Public Services.
CREG welcomes the new commissioned experts who will address regulatory challenges such as the energy transition, energy efficiency in the service supply chain, infrastructure modernization and the introduction of cutting-edge technologies in the sector.
In addition, they will work to promote competition in markets, ensure security of supply, promote investment and protect the rights and obligations of users.
