A complaint has been made to Radio-Canada’s Ombudsman regarding its coverage of the October 7 massacre in Israel and the conflicts that followed.
“We are talking about a heinous massacre, torture, rape and burning of people. It is unacceptable for Radio-Canada to talk about the courage of Hamas, the same group that committed this massacre,” lamented Emmanuelle Amar, director of public policy and research at CIJA.

At Benoit Dutrizac’s microphone on QUB Radio, Ms. Amar expressed her concerns about the bias in journalistic coverage of the state-owned company, particularly regarding the use of terms such as “combatants” instead of “terrorists” to talk about Hamas. as recognized by Canada.
“When we have a guest who is literally spreading disinformation, Radio-Canada anchors and journalists have a duty to correct the situation,” she says.
However, Ms Amar stressed that the company had made no corrections or apologies.
“The silence of some people is really deafening, it makes you dizzy,” she adds with emotion.
The complaint therefore aims to achieve stricter, more impartial and accurate media coverage of events in Israel.
Radio-Canada’s ombudsman must now review the complaint and decide what to do next.
