ALBA TCP countries approve tourism cooperation agreement ​​

CARACAS, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) — The countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas and People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) today approved an agreement to strengthen cooperative ties in tourism matters.

This was agreed by tourism ministers and authorities of the countries of the organization in the central-western state of Lara in Venezuela during the development of the 2023 International Tourism Fair.

As part of the cooperation agreements, the nations decided to comprehensively strengthen exchanges in education and training, taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of the organization’s countries and thus deepening complementarity.

The Managing Director of ALBA-TCP, Félix Plascencia, explained that the protocol signed today contains 12 points and explained that the expectations arising from this first agreement are very positive.

“The agreement highlights such important issues as ensuring connectivity, not only by air but also by sea, between our countries in order to promote the meeting of peoples; Tourism, exchanges of cooperation and trade,” emphasized Plasencia.

Likewise, the ALBA-TCP spokesman explained that the organization’s countries talked about tourism in the context of the environment, the cultural diversity of the region and the high potential of the member states.

Among the points of the agreement reached today was that the ALBA-TCP reiterated its strong opposition to the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against countries in the region.

“Rejecting sanctions against our countries is a historic position of ALBA-TCP and the Bolivarian countries. We condemn the actions against the Nicaraguan people, against the Venezuelan people and the efforts of the United States government against the island of Cuba. what it has been sanctioning and blocking for more than 60 years,” Plasencia said.

The ALBA-TCP includes Bolivia, Cuba, Venezuela, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada and Nicaragua.
