However, it is important to highlight that Lionsgate+, formerly known as STARZPLAY, will be closing its operations in Brazil soon, on December 11th to be precise. Therefore, when using this service, pay attention to the date, as it marks the departure of the platform from the Latin American sides of the world.

How long will Lionsgate+ be available on Prime Video?

In Brazil, anyone who has subscribed to Lionsgate+ through Prime Video will have the opportunity to continue streaming for a few days beyond the platform’s deadline in the country. Customers of this subscription model can still use the old STARZPLAY until February 9th.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said they had been contacted by a key distribution partner in Latin America. This situation helped change the direction of streaming in this part of the Americas.

“After being contacted by a key distributor in Latin America, we reached a positive agreement that motivated us to exit the territory by December 31st while we focus on service in the United States and other Englishspeaking countries such as the United States Kingdom focus. Canada and Australia, plus we’ve cut our spending even further.”

Lionsgate+ combined content from Lionsgate and the STARZ channel, highlighting series such as “The Great” and “Gangs of London.” In Brazil, streaming was integrated into Star+ after a legal dispute and can be completed as a combo with Globoplay. The closure of Lionsgate+ resulted from an agreement with a distributor in Latin America that opened up the possibility of an integration with Star+, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Additionally, Lionsgate+ has not made any official statement or confirmation regarding a platform agreement providing for the broadcast of subsequent content.
