The mayor of Montreal was not present at Monday's city council meeting dedicated to adopting her administration's budget.

“I have to continue to slow down the pace of my activities, although fortunately I am feeling better,” she wrote on social media. “I will be at your side again as soon as possible. »

It is the new president of the executive committee, Luc Rabouin, and his chief financial officer, Benoit Dorais, who “exceptionally” succeed the mayor in the municipal council.

Ms. Plante felt uncomfortable in the middle of a press conference last Tuesday while answering questions from reporters at City Hall.

While answering a journalist's question in English, Ms. Plante stopped speaking for about 10 seconds before falling to the ground and saying she was not feeling well. Her colleagues and security guards immediately intervened while she lay on the ground.

After about five minutes, the mayor, supported by her employees, left the area on foot.

The day after this incident, Mr. Rabouin assured that his boss was “fine.” “As a preventive measure, it will reduce the pace of its activities in the coming days and resume them thereafter,” he added.
