It appears that Zach Wilson was injured before the Jets pulled him out of Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Wilson exited the game after just 22 snaps due to a head injury and suffered a concussion, but had tried to persevere before ultimately exiting the game.
Wilson's mother, Lisa, said in an Instagram Story posted Monday that the Jets' quarterback did not inform the coaching staff or medical team how badly he was injured until blurry vision and problems with his depth perception reached concerning levels.
“It was a little tough yesterday, Zach took some really, really hard hits and he fought through it and really tried to just stay out on the field,” Lisa Wilson said. “He didn't want to get out, he didn't want to stop playing – so he didn't tell the sideline, the coaches, the trainers how he really felt, but tried to just fight through it and be out there with his guys.”
Wilson left the game just before half-time after being under complete pressure in the first half of the game.

He was sacked four times during his short day against Miami.
Ultimately, Wilson took one too many punches, which ended up getting him out.
He finished the day with a score of 4-11 for 26 yards and a lost fumble.
“Eventually, after another blow to the head, he started having real problems with blurred vision and his depth perception,” Lisa Wilson said. “He really started to worry that if he stayed out he would actually hurt his team because his vision wasn't right and because you can't play like that.”

Wilson, the reigning AFC Offensive Player of the Week, had a pretty rough season but turned in the best performance he's had all year in the Jets' win over the Texans.
Now New York is waiting to see who their quarterback will be for the Christmas Eve game against the Commanders.
Wilson will need to clear concussion protocol in order to play on Sunday, and two of the required steps that need to be cleared are training on a limited basis and then participating in a full practice.

There has been speculation that Aaron Rodgers would attempt to make his long-awaited return from an Achilles tendon injury, but with the Jets out of the playoff hunt, the chances of that happening are slim at best.
That would mean the Jets turn to backup QB Trevor Siemian, who replaced Wilson in the last game after his departure.
