At least four people were killed and nine others injured in Russian attacks between Saturday and Sunday on the southern city of Kherson, which was bombed almost daily by Moscow's army, the regional governor said.

“Last night the Russian army bombed the city center of Kherson,” regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin complained in a message on Telegram.

According to the official, “a shell hit a residential building” and killed “an 87-year-old man and his 81-year-old wife” on the spot. Another resident of Kherson, “54 years old,” “suffered head trauma due to this explosion” and “leg injuries.”

Elsewhere in the center of Kherson, rescue workers “discovered the body of a dead man while clearing the rubble.”

In the last 24 hours, Russian attacks on Kherson left at least “four dead and nine injured, including a child,” Oleksandr Prokudin complained on Telegram.

“The Russian army attacked residential areas in the region, medical facilities, an educational institution and critical infrastructure in Kherson,” he said, without specifying the extent of the material damage.

President Volodymyr Zelensky quickly condemned “brutal and terrorist bombings” on social media.

“All necessary services and our rescuers will work around the clock to restore power,” he promised.

Kherson lies on the other side of the natural front line of the Dnieper River and has been the target of bombing raids by the Moscow army almost daily since it was recaptured by Kiev troops in November 2022 after several months of Russian occupation.

In addition, the Ukrainian Air Force announced in its daily bulletin on Sunday morning that it had intercepted 14 of the 15 explosive drones launched by Russia during the night.
