Peace-. The Commander General of the Bolivian Police, Álvaro Álvarez, assured today that 147 people died during the New Year holidays, while the armed forces attended a total of 1,500 traffic accidents.
In press releases, he stated that “in traffic accidents, there has been a significant increase in assistance, accidents, violations, violations and deaths of people (…)” for various reasons.
The general added that 15,780 soldiers have been mobilized for control operations throughout the national territory, which is 79 percent more than at the end of 2022.
“Police personnel were deployed in all areas,” said Álvarez, “in streets, capitals, intermediate towns and at the border,” to provide certainty and a sense of security to all Bolivians celebrating the end-of-year celebrations.”
According to the police chief, this force's massive patrol on the streets helped identify a larger number of criminals.
He named Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, La Paz, Potosí, Chuquisaca and Oruro as the departments with the highest number of recorded incidents.
