Singer Sinéad O'Connor died of “natural causes”

Irish singer Sinead O'Connor, who died in July aged 56, died of “natural causes”, the inquest heard in London on Tuesday said.

The singer, who became a global star in 1990 with her hit “Nothing Compares 2 U,” was found lifeless by police at her home in southeast London on July 26.

In a statement, the court in Southwark, south London, which is investigating her death, confirmed “that Ms O'Connor died of natural causes”.

After the singer's death, police said her death was “not suspicious.”

His death sparked an avalanche of tributes in Ireland and around the world.

She was buried south of Dublin after a funeral procession along the coast in Bray, a small town south of Dublin where she lived for 15 years.

In addition to her music, the singer was known for her fight against sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, which she accused of failing to adequately protect children. In particular, in 1992 she tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II on US television, a scene whose images went around the world.

In recent years, Sinead O'Connor has spoken out on social media, threatening her former employees with legal action, describing her physical and mental health problems, sharing her suicidal thoughts and her complicated relationships with her family.

According to her agents, before her death she was finishing a new album, preparing for a tour and planning to bring her autobiography “Rememberings” to the big screen, due out in 2021.
