Lugansk region almost completely overrun
The war in Ukraine enters its fourth month on Tuesday as Russian troops focus their offensive on the last pocket of resistance in the Lugansk region, in the Donbass (east).
After Russian troops withdrew from the country’s two largest cities, the capital Kyiv, in late March and early April, then Kharkiv in May, Ukrainians have been experiencing “difficulties” in the Donbass for several days, which has formed as a result of the Lugansk Oblast and Donetsk.
“The next few weeks of war will be difficult,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned in his daily televised address on Monday evening.
“The Russian occupiers are trying to show that they will not leave the occupied areas of Kharkiv region (northeast), that they will not give back Kherson region (south), occupied areas of Zaporizhia region (southeast) and Donbass (east). They’re advancing somewhere. They are reinforcing their positions elsewhere,” he continued.

Harpoon missiles for Ukraine trying to unblock the port of Odessa
Denmark has pledged to supply Harpoon missiles to Ukraine, which is trying to counter the blockade imposed by the Russian Navy on the port of Odessa, which is vital to Ukraine’s wheat exports, the country’s head of state said Monday, Pentagon, Lloyd Austin.
Twenty countries have pledged to provide Ukraine with additional weapons to deal with Russian forces at the second meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said.
“Today’s meeting went very well,” he said. “Many countries will donate much-needed artillery ammunition, coastal defense systems, tanks and other armaments to the Kiev army,” he added.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy denounces the “organized massacre” of the Russians in the Donbass
Ninety days after the start of the war in Ukraine, the conflict has stalled. The “lightning war” that Vladimir Putin wanted did not take place and Ukrainian resistance forced the Russian army to reposition itself in the east of the country. And in the Donbass region, the difficulties for the Ukrainian army are mounting.
Fall of Mariupol, bombings in Severodonetsk, lack of arms and ammunition: This Monday, the Ukrainian governor of the Lugansk region, Serguïï Gaïdaï, denounced an “increasingly difficult” situation on the ground in the south-east of the country.
In the evening, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the situation in Donbass, a region near Luhansk.
“The most difficult situation is in Donbass Bakhmut, Popasna, Severodonetsk, the occupiers are most active in these directions,” says Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming that the Russians staged a “massacre” there.
