Kim Kardashian has opened up about the dispute over the Marilyn Monroe dress she wore to the 2022 MET Gala.
“We keep reading things like ‘The dress is ruined’… Isn’t that all true?” asked host Hoda Kotb. “No,” the Kardashian replied. “Ripley’s [e eu] We worked so well together, there were handlers with gloves that would put that on me,” he explained. Ripley believe it or not! has owned the piece since 2016, which is valued at US$4.8 million around R$25 million. The company defended the muse on Thursday (16), claiming that no damage was done to the dress. . .
“It’s been quite a process,” Kim added. “I showed up on the red carpet in a robe and flip flops, put on the dress at the beginning of the carpet, went upstairs… I wore it for probably 3 minutes, 4 minutes,” she explained.

“I respect her (Marilyn Monroe), I understand how much this dress means to American history. and with the topic [do Met Gala] So I thought, ‘What’s more American than Marilyn Monroe singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the President of the United States?'” the star asked. The garment is the same one Marilyn wore to John F. Kennedy’s 45th birthday in 1962 when he performed for the head of state.
The socialite also opened up about her controversial weight loss for the event: “I’ve been watching it [o Met Gala] like a paper. And I really wanted to wear this dress. That was really important to me.” Kardashian had to lose 7 pounds in three weeks to use it. Watch the interview:

Still on the diet, Kim continued, “It actually taught me a lot about my lifestyle and health. And since then I’ve continued to eat very healthy.” “I’m 20 pounds lighter now. I’m not trying to lose any more weight, but I have more energy than ever. I cut out a lot of the sugar and a lot of the junk I ate… I made a complete lifestyle change.”
The clothes fight
Earlier this week, Instagram profile The Marilyn Monroe Collection posted updated images of the item, stating that the dress would have frayed near the zipper and some crystals would have been lost. The account wrote in one of the posts that “the damage[to the dress]is undeniably significant.”
After the releases, the internet ran rampant with the idea that the historical piece had been tainted. On Thursday (16th), a representative from the museum spoke to TMZ. “A report written in early 2017 on the condition of the dress states that ‘a number of seams have been pulled and frayed.’ Given the delicacy of the material, this is not surprising. “There are creases on the backs of the hook and eye, among other damage,” he said. The company added that “the dress is in the same condition it arrived at the event.”
Designed by Jean Louis, the piece originally cost $12,000 (about US$61,000). The dress with 6,000 crystals went down in history as the most expensive dress sold at auction in 2016 when Ripley’s Believe It or Not! acquired it. The museum, known for displaying representative pieces of pop culture, announced that the dress will be on display at the Hollywood facility for a limited time. The facility said the item is currently valued at $10 million.
