Robert Krimoaccused of shooting and causing a massacre during a July 4 parade in a suburb of Chicago, was considering carrying out a second attack in Madison, in the neighboring state of Wisconsin, police said on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old told investigators he fled by car to Madison, where he “saw further celebrations” and “seriously considered using the gun he had in the vehicle in another attack,” said Christopher Covelli of the Highland Police Park.

Unlike the first, this second attack had not been planned, for which he has been preparing for weekshe added.

The young man opened fire on the crowd from the roof of a fair just as the parade had started. As a result of the attack, seven people died and another 30 were injured.

After being arrested near Chicago Monday night, he was questioned by Highland Park police and during a video conference call before a judge “made a voluntary statement to investigators confessing his actions,” the deputy said District Attorney Ben Dillon.

Judge Theodore Potkonjak declined bail. The suspect, with hair down to his neck and tattoos on his neck and face, remained motionless during the appearance.

If convicted, Robert Crimo, charged with seven murders, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. He will appear before another judge at Waukegan Court on July 28.
