Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones asked a judge to dismiss a paternity lawsuit filed by Alexandra Davis, according to ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr.
Van Natta reported that Jones’ attorneys allege that he was the victim of “multiple money extortion attempts” and claimed that Davis’ lawsuit was part of those plans.
“The potential source(s) of these attempted extortions … will be the subject of other litigation that has been filed or will be commenced shortly,” Jones representatives said in a filing.
Van Natta reported that Charles L. Babcock, one of Jones’ attorneys, wrote a March 10 letter that “connected the Davis paternity suit against Jones and numerous other recent Cowboys scandals with the ongoing contentious divorce battle between Jones’ daughter Charlotte Jones.” Anderson Joins , and her husband Shy Anderson.”
Babcock urged Anderson to keep any correspondence he may have had with Davis and her mother, Cynthia Davis-Spencer. He also appeared to be checking into whether Anderson played any role in Van Natta’s February story about Richard Dalrymple, the Cowboys’ former senior vice president of public relations and communications.
According to Van Natta, the organization paid out $2.4 million to settle claims that Dalrymple secretly photographed Cowboys cheerleaders while they changed in their dressing room in 2015. Dalrymple showed him taking “upskirt” photos of Jones Anderson.
Nataly Keomoungkhoun of the Dallas Morning News reported that Davis filed a lawsuit against Jones in Dallas County on March 4, alleging that he had a relationship with her mother in the 1990s.
“Jones and Cynthia Davis worked out a ‘deal’ stating that Jones would support Cynthia and Alexandra Davis financially so long as they do not publicly reveal that he is Alexandra Davis’ father, court documents say,” Keomoungkhoun said.
Davis filed a lawsuit to free herself from all obligations under the non-disclosure agreement, which was entered into when she was one year old.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Thursday.
