Rita Lee is honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Latin Grammy

Singer Rita Lee will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards, taking place on November 17.

The recognition for the famed rock queen’s career was announced this Monday during a Latin Grammy prep event attended by Brazilians such as Manu Gavassi, Luísa Sonza, Agnes Nunes and Giulia Be, who also sang songs written by Rita Lee in celebration of his work .

On this occasion, the Latin Recording Academy set the date of the awards ceremony, which will take place in Las Vegas, United States. The event will be broadcast live on the Univision channel.

However, there are no nominees yet, which will not be announced until September 30th after an initial round of voting between July 28th and August 8th. Winners will be determined later at the Academy Judging between September 30th and October 13th.

Rita Lee has become more reclusive lately after discovering lung cancer. In April, the 74yearold singer’s family announced that she was “cured” from lung cancer, which was diagnosed in May last year, and has been receiving treatment ever since. However, it’s worth noting that the term “cured” isn’t technically the most accurate term for the medical community. The more accurate term would be remission of the cancer, which would be under control with no evidence of the tumor.
