The singer was asked if Ye left the festival’s cast at the last minute.
We’re exactly a week away from tens of thousands of people pouring into a California desert for Coachella. The mega-festival makes its triumphant return with a lineup that has fans eagerly awaiting their favorites to take the stage, but this week Kanye West retired from his headlining spot. There have been several speculative accounts as to why West decided to step back, but we’ll have to wait for the billionaire rapper to explain his decision for himself.
Meanwhile, Page Six reported that their “sources” claimed the Coachella producers were skeptical because West didn’t seem to have his rehearsals worked out. Statements have been made that the Coachella production team also felt “taken aback” by West’s cancellation as they sought to fill his position.

Kelly Rowland knows the pressures of a Coachella performance all too well, having reunited with Beyoncé on the festival stage four years ago with Michelle Williams. RadarOnline caught up with Rowland at the Go Red for Women event and asked the singer about her thoughts on whether West’s absence will impact the festival in any way.
“The people at Coachella are very smart. They’re a wonderful team, organized and brilliant, and they’re going to figure it out because they have the best of the best,” she said. Rowland also revealed that her Coachella moment took “months” to prepare to make sure “everything was perfect.”
“The surprise was the reaction from the fans,” she added, laughing. “I couldn’t hear anything. I walked off the stage and I was like, ‘Did they like it?’”
Meanwhile, Fivio Foreign recently explained that West is taking some time to detach from life’s stressors.
