Since March, the leaks of Vivo’s future foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold, had multiplied. He had been featured in one photograph last month. And as expected, the Chinese brand finally presented its phone at an event, officially entering the race for the best foldable smartphone. However, given the qualities he has shown, there is a good chance that he will soon be in the lead.

The very high end from Vivo

This presentation, in good and due form, confirmed what we already knew from the device’s spec sheet. This includes very high-end: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, supported by 12 GB of RAM and internal storage of 256 GB or 512 GB.The battery size is 4,600 mAh, with 66W wired fast charging, 50W wireless.

The new folding phone from Vivo is also strong on the photo side: there are five lenses developed by Zeiss. The main camera has a 50-megapixel sensor, which is accompanied by four other sensors, including a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, as well as two other 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors.

Its screens are also impressive: Vivo has integrated a large 8.03-inch AMOLED folding panel in 2K+, as well as a 6.53-inch outer screen, also AMOLED, and FHD+. Both screens benefit from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Two fingerprint readers are placed under the screens. These are not optical sensors, but ultrasonic sensors.

Not surprisingly, the phone runs Android 12 (OriginOS) natively. As expected, the Vivo X Note and the Vivo Pad were also introduced.

Vivo X Fold: price and availability

But as is so often the case, European technology enthusiasts will have to step on the brakes. In any case, the Vivo X Fold will initially only be sold in China, at a price of 8999 CNY (in 12+256 GB) and 9999 CNY (in 12+512), i.e. around 1300 and 1450 euros respectively.

It will apparently be available in two colors (gray and light blue) from April 22nd.
