A 21yearold man has died after being struck by the propeller of a plane he was chartering for a romantic dinner in Georgia. According to local newspaper The Macon Telegraph, Sani Aliyu was hit twice in the head at StatesboroBulloch Airport.
Sani rented a Cessna machine for a young woman on a date on Sunday (16). Returning to the airport, the boy walked to the tail of the plane, ignoring security warnings.
“The young woman and the student got off the plane and walked to the front of the plane. As he approached, the propeller hit him,” said Bulloch County coroner Jake Futch. The victim died instantly.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the causes of the accident along with the National Transportation Safety Board in the United States.
University of Georgia officials confirmed that Aliyu was in his sophomore year of business administration. Vice President Aileen C. Dowell lamented the tragic incident.
“I have already reached out to his family and faculty and have mobilized all available resources to provide counseling and other university support,” Dowell said in a statement.
