“Pure joy, thank you life! [Gregory Kelley] and I introduce you to Gabriel Kelley. A bit in a hurry like his mum but as calm as his dad…for now,” Marwah Rizqy wrote on Twitter Thursday morning.

It is the first child for the couple. Ms Rizqy announced her pregnancy in a Facebook post last May.

She then recounted that she had attempted in vitro fertilization (IVF) last December that hadn’t worked, but that failure hadn’t stopped her from trying again. “And I am pleased to officially share the good news with you. The second treatment worked and I’m four months pregnant!” she had written.

Quebec Liberal Party leader Dominique Anglade congratulated the couple on Thursday morning.

“Happy for you! We can’t wait to hug him,” she wrote on Twitter.

Prime Minister François Legault, like many other politicians, insisted on congratulating the two MEPs. “Well done Marwah and Gregory! This is real happiness! There is nothing more important! Enjoy!” wrote Mr. Legault in particular.
