As of 9:31 p.m., the state-owned company said high winds had caused 348 outages across the country. It was also reported that 54,661 customers were without power.
The situation seemed to get worse every fifteen minutes as the evening began.
However, some customers saw a rebound in power after reaching a peak of around 70,000 customers without power around 7pm.
Montérégie and the Laurentians were the regions hardest hit by these blackouts. Hydro-Québec recorded 107 outages affecting 22,057 customers in Montérégie and 60 outages affecting 9,240 customers in Laurentians.
There were 27 outages affecting 3949 customers on the island of Montreal and 24 outages affecting 3650 customers in Laval. In Lanaudière, 3,787 customers were affected by 17 outages. In Outaouais, the number of outages was 41, affecting 2,133 customers. In Estrie, around 4,194 customers are affected by 42 outages.
Hydro-Québec added on its Twitter account that its teams are working to restore power.
The Ministry of Environment and Combating Climate Change had forecast that wind speeds of 90 km/h would be reached in many regions of Quebec.
Around 8 p.m., the wind warning was lifted in the Montreal, Laval, Montérégie and Laurentians regions. However, it remained in force in some sectors of the Capitale-Nationale, Centre-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions.
