It’s one of the biggest questions in film history: could Jack have survived the end of Titanic?

It’s been 25 years since viewers first witnessed the shocking death of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in James Cameron’s epic, and co-star Kate Winslet is finally addressing whether he could have lived.

If you’re not familiar with the ending, let’s go back. The box office sensation ends with Jack (DiCaprio) and Rose (Winslet) surviving the sinking of the Titanic. But in the icy water, Rose is floating on a broken door. Jack, who also cannot climb up, stays in the water and hangs on the edge of the door – eventually he freezes to death.

Since then, the question has remained as to whether Jack could have survived.

“Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast host Josh Horowitz popped the question to DiCaprio while the actor was doing press for “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” but only got a “No Comment” from the star.

Horowitz recently tried his luck with Winslet when she was promoting Avatar: The Way of Water and started gold after he showed her DiCaprio’s stone reaction.

“I don’t fucking know. That’s the answer, I don’t fucking know,” Winslet said first, before actually providing a well-thought-out answer after explaining that she has an “understanding of water” from all the water activities she does from paddleboarding to for diving.

“If you put two adults on a stand-up paddleboard, it immediately becomes extremely unstable,” she explained. “So the reality is, it was a door. I have to be honest, I really don’t think we would have survived if we both got on that door. I think it would have fit, but it would have tipped and it wouldn’t have been a sustainable idea.”

“So you heard it here for the first time,” concluded Winslet. “Yes, he could have fit on that door, but it wouldn’t have stayed afloat.”

But Winslet wasn’t done yet. She then went after those who had made disparaging comments about her weight over the years and insinuated that that was why Jack wasn’t floating with her.

“Apparently I was too fat,” she said, looking at the camera.

“Isn’t it terrible?” she said to Horowitz. “Why were you so mean to me? I wasn’t even damn fat.”

“If I could turn back the clock, I would have used my voice very differently,” she said. “I would have said, ‘Don’t you dare treat me like that. i am a young woman My body is changing. I will find out. I am deeply insecure. I’m afraid this is even more difficult than it already is.’ It’s bullying and actually borderline abusive.”
